Here is a look behind the scenes in our small workshop as we make samples for new collections. Here is the upcoming Alignment Earring in progress!  We used to hammer everything. After injuring our shoulders and arms, we switched to a rolling mill to add texture. First, I felt like this make the pieces "less handmade." Now I know I'm working smart and I like the granite texture even better than the hammering.  The granite stone texture we use shimmers like crystals.  Each piece needs to be smoothed. My Family Dutch Pancake Recipe - Pannekoeken

I learned how to make Dutch pancakes from my maternal great grandmother, Maria. She was born in Rotterdam in the 1890s and called Marie. She used to cut up her old blouses and make remarkably detailed clothing for my dolls and monchhichis. Her bold polyester prints in navy and tangerine polkadot because tiny jackets and bedspreads. I kept many of them and now Phoebe plays with them. Handmade quality for the win! Celebrating Women - the 19th Amendment Centennial - 1920 - 2020

This year we celebrate a century since the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Though it would be more than a generation before ALL american women citizens could vote - the women's suffrage movement was the culmination of decades of momentum towards rights for women. Many women leaders with strong voices and articulate minds poured themselves into the movement. These women found intellectual stimulation, social connection and personal empowerment and we celebrate them. Here's to the women who kept pushing and to those who keep pushing now.
